For the Life of Me
Rules? I have no problem
with rules as a whole,
only those that interfere
with individuality.
So what if one chooses
to have purple hair
or wear yellow lipstick?
Life is to be experienced
not stifled by social mores.
Does it really matter
so very much if vacations
are not planned, but traveled
nomad style to wherever
roads unwind?
Yes, I acknowledge my differences,
but no longer apologize.
I want to be as the waterfall,
roaring with my own song,
allowing notes of life to splatter
with their own special tune.

ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely poem, Nells. I agree so much. Years ago we used to take unplanned holidays around Britain. Just point the car in any direction and go. We stayed overnight in various hotels and bed and breakfast places.
